Do I need a visa to visit the Cape Verde Islands?Yes a visa is required for entry into the country, it is essential that your passport is valid for at least 6 months prior to your visit, visitors can obtain a visa on arrival at the airport, or it can be organized prior to your visit by contacting the nearest Cape Verde or Portuguese Embassy. |
What is the time difference between Ireland / UK, Europe and Cape Verde?Time difference is 1 hour; however this increases to 2 hours in summer months due to daylight savings in Ireland / UK. Central European time is one hour ahead of UK time. |
What risk is there of Malaria?There is no Malaria present in Cape Verde, with the exception of Santiago during September to November. |
Can I use my mobile phone in Cape Verde?Mobile phones do work in Cape Verde, however making overseas calls from Cape Verde is expensive and it is recommended that you purchase a local pre – paid SIM card on arrival which will give you a local number. Hotel phones can be expensive but there are a number internet cafes where cheaper call rates are available. |

What are the business opening times in Cape Verde?Generally opening times are Monday – Friday 0800 – 1200/1400 – 1800 everywhere is closed on Public Holidays and Sundays. Banks are open between 0800 – 1500 Monday to Friday but cash machines are available outside of these hours. |
